You don’t have to be Irish to reap the benefits of Guinness Beer. Here are 5 reasons this creamy brew should be the star of your beauty routine.
5 Reasons Guinness Should Be A Part Of Your Beauty Routine
Beer isn’t just for getting your buzz on or making bad decisions with. It can and should be used in your beauty routine to give your locks a high-gloss shine or flush toxins from your skin (yes, beer flushes toxins). If you’re not reaping the benefits of this fermented brew, you’re limiting your beauty potential and that’s a fact.
It’s well known that Egyptians used to bathe in beer to give them luxurious shiny hair and soft supple skin but somewhere along the line we lost touch with our alcoholic roots and relegated beer to dive bars, football games, house parties, and St. Patrick’s Day.
In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, we’re taking Guinness beer back and putting it where it belongs: in our beauty routine!
Here are 5 reasons Guinness will be the star of your beauty routine.
1. Guinness Contains Immune-Boosting Antioxidants
As if the case with red wine and dark chocolate, Guinness contains antioxidants that protect the skin from free radical damage which means you’re not only getting your B vitamins in, you’re stocking up on your daily intake of antioxidants.
2. It’ll Make Your Hair Stronger & Shinier
Want shiny strong hair? Do a beer rinse! There are several methods to beer rinsing, but the most common is letting the beer become flat by sitting for 45 minutes – 1 hour, shampooing and conditioning as normal and, once you’ve rinsed off the conditioner, adding 2 tablespoons of warm water to the beer and then pouring it over your hair. Let sit for 3 minutes and rinse. Once your hair dries, you’ll notice it will be much softer and more voluminous.
3. Beer Can Clear Acne
You probably didn’t cover this in your high school science class but the no. 1 ingredient in beer is brewer’s yeast which has been shown to slow down sebum production and kill acneic bacteria that resides on the skin. If you’re in the midst of a moderate to severe breakout, rinse your skin with beer in the morning and reap the clearing benefits of brewer’s yeast!
4. It Doubles As A Great Moisturizer
Given the fact that beer contains B vitamins, polyphenols, hops, saccharides and yeast, is it any surprise that it doubles as a fantastic facial moisturizer? The B vitamins in beer work to hydrate and detoxify the skin from the inside out which means soft, clear, even skin.
5. It’s The One Beauty Product You Can Drink
You can’t drink your Bumble & Bumble serum or your texturizing spray but you can drink beer. Fortunately, beer is all natural and naturally good for us which makes this all-in-one beauty product a must-have in our opinion. Bonus points for it tasting good and helping us get our groove back.
This St. Patrick’s Day, knock back a beer and open another one for that hair rinse you have scheduled and enjoy responsibly! Now that we know beer is actually healthy for us, let’s not abuse that privilege and use St. Paddy’s Day as an excuse to get lit. Have fun, drink responsibly and start using Guinness in your beauty routine!
